Patient Financial Specialist Full Time Monday-Friday 7:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Some college preferred.
Requirements:
1-2 years of work experience in a healthcare related office setting required.
Hospital, clinic or business office experience highly desired.
Billing, posting, and collections experience is a plus.
Computer experience is required.
Utilization of CPSI and Athena systems is helpful.
Experience/knowledge with insurance payers and understanding EOBs/remits and patient financial responsibility (deductible, co-insurance, copays, etc.
) is required.
Must be able to make decisions under pressure, manage stress, multiple priorities, and tasks appropriately.
Ability to work within a multidiscipline team required.
Duties Include:
To effectively communicate with patients and families concerning patient account financial responsibility.
Demonstrates excellent skill in all forms of communication.
Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.
Process accounts within assigned responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, performing all associated duties to ensure completeness and accuracy of all account and claim information.
Handles phone and in person inquiries from patients and families regarding patient accounts, posts patient payments, assists each person promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
Performs duties with minimal supervision; exhibits innovation and good judgement as well as thorough knowledge of ethical and legal billing procedures.
Provides coverage for switchboard for vacancy and illness.
Corresponds with self-pay patients to interview for possible Medicaid eligibility and/or financial assistance.
Responsible for all financial assistance applications, processing and reporting of all uncompensated accounts.
Handles all requests of billing information from collection agency and processes in a timely manner.
Cross-trained for various job duties with the Patient Accounting Department and performs any other job duties as assigned by the Director.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
